About Me

Security for Your Small Business

What kind of security do you need for your small business? My name is Emily, and as a small business owner myself, I've gone through all sorts of options. Some business owners think that they are covered because they have an alarm system or other type of security installed. However, they may have overlooked other important considerations in small business security. Many security issues in a business are actually perpetrated by an employee, but few businesses have security in place that will allow employers to know when employees are stealing or behaving inappropriately. Let me help you understand how to buy the best security system for your small business.

Where To Hide Your Keys So You Are Never Locked Out Of Your House Again

Not only can being locked out of your home be a frustrating thing, but it can also be a dangerous thing if you are stuck outside during extremely hot or cold temperatures. Even if it is just for convenience, you will want to learn about the different places to hide your spare house key so you will never have to worry about running into this type of problem.

Under The Bird Seed

This might seem like a messy location, but it does not have to be all that bad.. Simply empty the contents of your bird feeder into a bowl so you can reuse the seed without wasting any. Clean the bottom of the inside of the feeder with a damp cloth and thoroughly dry it with a dry rag. You will then want to place a single spare house key along the bottom and secure it in place with a piece of duct tape or packing tape. Since you have cleaned off any bird seed residue, you will not have to worry about the tape not sticking properly. You can then pour the bird seed back into the feeder. Always do your best to make sure that there is enough bird seed in the feeder to keep the birds well fed and the spare house key covered.

Under The Bumper Of Your Vehicle

This can be a great location to hide your spare house key since it is likely that your vehicle will still be in the driveway if you have locked your set of keys inside of the house. Simply stick your spare house key in a magnetic key box and then place it under your vehicle. Do make sure that you step back away from your vehicle and walk all around the back side of it to see if you are able to spot the spare key. This is to help make sure that it will never be accidentally discovered by a stranger.

Behind A Piece Of Vinyl Siding

You will want to take a look around one of the sides of your home that is not easily seen by neighbors. Look for an end of one of the pieces of vinyl siding and see if you can lift it up and away from the house just enough to slide a key in. If you can, then you will want to attach a long and sturdy string to the key. Use heavy duty packing tape to secure the other end of the string to the exterior of the siding before you slide the key in behind the siding. This way, the key will not drop too far, causing you to be unable to reach it. When you need the house key, simply remove the tape and pull on the string until the key appears.

If you want, you might want to consider using more than one hiding place for your spare key. This way, in case you accidentally forget about one location, you will be able to find it in another.
